Welcome to Ashton Creek Alpaca Company, located at the foot of the famous
Enderby Cliffs,
just five minutes from the "Little City" of Enderby in B.C.'s sunny Okanagan.
Ashton Creek Alpacas began in 1995, when we bought our first alpacas from a
farm in Alberta. We grew our herd while we still worked at demanding "city"
jobs on the Coast, learning and loving every minute. Early retirement beckoned,
and now we can devote more time to our alpacas and the wonderful country
lifestyle we cherish.
Why alpacas? Around the world alpacas are in strong demand. They are unique,
and the textiles produced from their fibre are known in the fashion centres of
Paris, Milan and Tokyo. Historically, the alpaca's value has sustained
ancient cultures such as the Incas of Peru, who bred the alpaca from the vicuna
to provide fine, warm clothing for royalty over 5,000 years ago. The alpaca's
popularity is now becoming internationally recognized. Alpacas produce one of
the world's finest and most luxurious natural fibres: soft as cashmere and
warmer, lighter and stronger than wool. This incredible fibre is enjoyed by
spinners and weavers around the world.
We have introduced many people to the wonders of alpacas and alpaca products,
and would be delighted to help you learn more about these wonderful, expressive
and intelligent animals --
